Joshua has always had a passion for woodwork and creating things with his hands. Even threw high school he did lots of woodworking, in subjects such as Craft and Design; but I think that the main subject where he was allowed to express his ideas in woodwork was Art and Design. This was because of his expressive mind in designing and creating, and because of this he was able to succeed in his art studies by reaching the highest grade in Advanced Higher Art possible.
‘I like to think of my work more as Art, that people will view and treasure forever’
After high school Joshua decided he wanted to carry his woodworking interests on further, so he went on to study at the ‘Chippendale International School of Furniture’ (Named after the great man himself Mr Thomas Chippendale, one of the greatest furniture makers in the history of the craft.) The school is based near Gifford and is renowned for its students producing amazing pieces of furniture each year.
‘I try to create beautiful pieces of furniture using subtle curves’
In 2008 Joshua graduated from the school with now a vast knowledge of woodworking skills that he uses to create simple but beautiful pieces of furniture within his very own furniture business ‘Aspect 6 Furniture’
